Our Wedding Day...er...Continued

Have y'all ever woke up in the middle of the night with the kind of migraine/tension headache that makes you want to break a toe just to forget how bad your head hurts? That's exactly what happened the night before our wedding. I woke up multiple times that night and no matter what I did I couldn't get rid of the migraine. I finally got up super early, called my momma who was next door at the hotel, and used my last "Please come help me I'm sick" card of my before-married life. She came over with Advil, and electrostim machine and tea and fixed me up proper. I love my momma.

By the time we left for my bridal brunch, and after a quick trip to Walgreens for Excedrin and champagne, my head felt better and we could get on with the day! A dear friend from work threw us beautiful laid back brunch with tasty food, lovely drinks and lots of laughs. Then it was off to the races!

A whirlwind six hours later that were full of last minute fixes - "Oh I can fix that" was something that consistently came out of one bridesmaid's mouth...and she did! And a memorable "I need a pair of pliers!" in the groom's room... - laughter, especially when someone was up under my dress tying my petticoat, and tears for those who couldn't be with us, those who have passed on before their times and tears of happiness, and we were ready to get married. I was literally sitting on a chair that was under my dress when my coordinator came in at 6:05 and I said "What's going on? What are we waiting for?" and she replied "We're waiting for you!" I almost took the chair with me in my haste to get down that aisle.

*Our photographer, Monica Burkett of Freshold Photography, is the same photographer who did our engagement photos. We love her and her work!

I have never been happier to see DH than I was when we reached the end of the aisle. He looked so handsome and sure and not at all nervous. A short 20 minutes later I was allowed to kiss my man and call myself a wife!

From there on out the night flew and slowed down all at once. We had a lot of people tell us that their wedding is a blur, but for me I remember everything. It just went so fast!

And it all came about because a guy and a girl took a chance on one another...

The First Auntie Em of the Season and Part of Our Wedding Memories

It's the first tornado warning of the season here in the Deep South. So of course I need to blog about it...and the vision I have of DH and myself...and the cats....in one bathroom....without any power...and a hysterical me....and an exasperated DH....and two hyper cats... Well, you get the gist of it.

Instead of that visual imagery, let's talk about my wedding. My beautiful perfect wonderful wedding! Well, almost perfect. There were a few very important people that weren't able to make it for our day due to new babies and graduation and just life that tends to intervene, but they were there in thought...or at least I think they were! Beyond that, the day was wonderful.

Let me back-up though. My parents and grandparents came in a week ahead to help with details and crafting and final plans. My momma did a ton of the planning and we executed everything once they were in town. It was glitter and punches and craft paper and a million and one trips to Jo-Ann's, Michael's and Hobby Lobby. Colors were much debated and at one point I was left wondering why I didn't just go with blush and bashful. Surely that would have been easier than matching specific shades of turquoise and coral.

My bridal party starting alighting on my house like birds coming home to rest, along with out of town guests as the week went on, including my godmother. It was so relieving to have loved friends and family around us as the stress of getting everything done grew. There is no way that our wedding would have been half as beautiful without them! We were all covered in turquoise tinsel glitter by the end of the week. I'm still finding glitter around the house despite the multiple vacuumings since coming home from the honeymoon.

The rehearsal went off without a hitch, as did the dinner which we held at a local BBQ restaurant. We wanted laid back and fun for our guests! After dinner DH and I wanted to be sure we spent even a few minutes with our out of town guests. Y'all, I have never been so amazed as I was by the friends that traveled for our wedding! I had friends from every part of my life, birth through today, who were there! Our great idea was to invite everyone for drinks to BDubs. I felt like I was being pulled in 40 different directions but it was a fun time. One of our friends said that it was great because at the wedding reception the next day they felt like they already knew people and it wasn't just a bunch of strangers. Whew!

I wish I had pictures to share but they are all residing in various cameras and phones...none of which I actually possess. I'll write more about the actual wedding day but if I put it all in here it would be a loooong post!

On a side note, I'm glad to be back writing. I'm even more glad that my DH is content to do his thing while I do mine. Hmmm...maybe it's time to switch from Dark Horse to Hubby. I'll think on that.

I Think We've Been Here Before...That Tree Looks Familiar

I have been sucked into the wedding and honeymoon vortex for the last 6 months, at least I think it's been 6 months. Maybe longer? My poor neglected blog! I thought that there would be a lot of venting occurring on here throughout the wedding planning process, but I was really concerned about hurting feelings, having more issues coming up, etc. So instead I just didn't write at all.

I've missed it!

There will be more of an update than below....which is:

DH and I got hitched.
I almost lost my ever lovin' mind during the two weeks immediately prior to walking down the aisle while simultaneously loving most of it.
DH and I went to Scotland for our honeymoon. We loved every minute! Well, except for the Great Food Fight of Scotland. But that's a story for another post. We took hundreds of pictures and I'll try to find some to post once they're edited a little more.

In the meantime, I'll leave you with this adorable couple....oh wait, that's US!
