I Can't Eat WHAT?

It's approaching summer and vacation and weddings and swimming pools and less clothes in general. DH and best friend are embarking on a two month long intense work-out and healthy eating plan.  The plan is not so different from what he normally does, except it includes two-a-day workouts, lifting and cardio, and no junk food.

I'm going to try to stick to the diet portion of this plan, to some extent. As DH remarked on Saturday as we grocery shopped at Wal-Mart "eating healthy isn't cheap". There's just no way my will power currently can handle two-a-days and cutting out junk food. I think I better focus on one thing. So as of today the refined sugar consumption nose-dives. The drinking of adult beverages is going to be nil. Complex proteins will be a daily item on the menu. Fresh fruit and homemade trail mix will be snacks.  Um...I'm starting to reconsider this.

The exception to this strict regimen will be when we venture to Brownstones this weekend. I've been waiting months to try the place and it's no holds barred on Saturday night.

What do y'all like to eat that is healthy and tasty?  Oh and can you make it cheap too? Ever done a strict work-out or diet regimen?

  1. Oh, Awn...you are just too precious! First of all, thank you so, so much for the Blog Birthday wishes and the sweet compliments--I get so excited and am so flattered by lovely comments like yours. I spent my evening reading blog comments to my cowboy boyfriend over the phone--he and I are both consistently amazed at how many cool people like yourself are out there; we love all you blog readers who stop by!

Hmmm... about the whole healthy eating thing. I, too, am feeling the pressures that summer seems to always bring and am trying to really buckle down with my workouts and diet. Dieting is always the hard part for me--I love food and enjoy eating way, waaaay too much. However, when I am "dieting", I just try to fill myself up with light snacks, like lots of fruit and yogurt and rice cakes and 100-calorie bags of popcorn. Things like that. I eat a lot of salads and baked chicken for meals...nothing too exciting.

Just talking about this is making me hungry. I'm going to fight the urge to go eat one of the cupcakes you saw in my most recent blog post. They're calling my name from the cake plate in my kitchen... ha.

Thanks again for stopping by my blog, girly. Can't wait to read through more of your site--I love it!

    Talk to you soon!
