Electricity...Ohms...Ergs...Watts

Whatever you call it, it's something I don't often think about. Until it stops working due to storms that I slept through. And the fridge is becoming a large garbage bag. And I can't use the gym. And I don't relish the experience of showering in the dark.

Luckily, I have wonderful friends who have wonderful guest rooms and showers that are aglow with 100 watt light bulbs. Our complex finally got power back this morning via generator.  I cleaned out the fridge - I may eat sushi, but I will not play Russian Roulette with milk. Made an unscheduled stop at the grocery store.  Overall, I felt so privileged to have lights come on at the flip of a switch. The luckiest part of this whole experience is that the storm that blew out the transformer also cooled things off by about 20 degrees, so at least it was bearable without fans or air-conditioning.

Here I sat, feeling relieved and slightly smug. I already restocked the fridge, cleaned, did a load of dishes....all of which require some form of electricity. Then I read the email from our management office stating that the power will be off tomorrow between 8am - 1pm for maintenance on the lines.
